Our bot: CreatteroBot

Spotted CreatteroBot in your site's logs? Here's exactly what it does.

Creattero is a gift guide for creative people. Our bot only visits the merchant pages of the products listed on the site: it doesn't crawl the web at random and doesn't follow links from page to page.

Its identity

Our bot identifies itself with this User-Agent:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; CreatteroBot/1.0; +https://creattero.com/bot)

What it does

• Checks that each product page still responds (HTTP status), so that products no longer for sale can be taken off the guide.
• When we add a product, reads its page once to find the product image (the og:image tag or the product data on the page). The image is copied to our own storage and is never loaded from your server by our visitors.

How often

At most one link check per site per day, across all the products we list from that site. The image is read only when we add or update a product. We don't copy your whole site or reload your pages repeatedly.

What it doesn't do

• No crawling: we open only the product page the guide links to.
• No collection of emails or personal data.
• No copied text: the short text on each product card is written on our end.

Prevent the bot from visiting your site

Two options to choose from:

• Refuse the CreatteroBot User-Agent at your server or firewall (a 403 response is enough): after three consecutive refusals, the product is taken off the guide and the visits stop.
• Or contact us via our contact page: we'll take your products off the guide and stop all visits.

A question, an issue?

If the bot misbehaves (too many requests, visiting a page it shouldn't), report it via our contact page and we'll fix it. We're committed to staying a well-behaved bot.
